Hi Deepali: To paint a flamboyant tree you must notice it is an umbrella like shape that has depth, dimensión. If you only concentrate on its border it will look like a fan, without depth. You must watch it's inside branches, leaves and flowers in shadow too. I paint them almost all in the two complementary pigments, red and green. To add shadows to the reds add green and to add shadows to the greens add reds. It's trunk has the same colors. In the ground add the fallen flowers, some with sunlight others in shadow. Good luck.

Estella! I must tell you that you are the only painter I know who has managed to bring out the stunning beauty of the flambouyant tree. I have had a burning desire...and I mean that to be able to capture the beauty and lines of this fantastic creation, but just cannot make it . I would be delighted if you could teach me this art. I can call you on a number...or write you an email...whatever...I have been dabbling a bit on my own and am a self taught painter...who has discovered the joy of painter only recently. Please let me know how I can reach you and learn this beautiful art. I have tried unsuccessfully to paint them.....and am heartbroken, because these trees fire up my hometown in May. They are breathtaking!! Please let me know. Deepali
